RASS Training Frequently Asked Questions


Who?

ABO §3(h): The licensee and the licensee's managers shall attend a workshop which has been approved by the County: (1) All new businesses or recreational clubs where a license has not previously been issued; and (2) where there is a change of ownership of the license; or (3) where there is any change of licensee, and the licensee has not previously attended a responsible alcohol sales and service policy workshop for owners and managers.

If the owner of the business or recreational club is a non-resident of Oconee County, GA or any surrounding county, and is not actively engage in the day-to-day operation of the business or recreational club, the owner may be exempted from such training, so long as the owner designates an agent as specified in §3(c) of the ABO, who shall receive the specified training and otherwise act as the Owner's agent as specified therein.

For Caterers: Any licensed alcoholic beverage caterer from another political subdivision applying for a permit to conduct a catered function in Oconee County, GA shall provide proof of satisfactory to the County Planning Department that it has completed such training in the same manner as if it were licensed by Oconee County, GA.

What?

This training program is a proactive method on the ordinances that encourages accountability by empowering attendees with a working knowledge of the ordinances. The training integrates proven methods of identifying and addressing situations involving underage drinking, overconsumption, and preventing drunk driving.

Lastly, information is offered in a manner that demonstrates how it helps to protect them from liability while receiving assistance, not citations from law enforcement.

How Long is the certificate valid for?

The RASS Training Certificate is valid for three (3) years.

When?

Classes are typically held the first Tuesday of each month, with exceptions, starting at 6:00pm.

Payment?

Payment can be made to the instructor after the course has been completed. The training program costs $50 per attendee.
