Immigration Nationality Act

A new Georgia law, HB1105, requires the Department of Corrections to monitor inmates who are not U.S. citizens. Jailers must file quarterly reports on these inmates’ immigration status, offenses, and home countries. It also establishes standardized procedures for processing foreign nationals during intake and booking. Non-compliance carries penalties, and the law replaces any conflicting older laws. This amendment to Title 42 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated ensures greater oversight and accountability regarding foreign-born inmates.
