Requesting an Absentee Ballot
When an election is held, any eligible registered voter may apply for an Absentee Ballot via our online portal. Applications can only be accepted between 78 and 11 days before an election. You may submit an absentee ballot application through the secure absentee ballot portal at: Secure My Absentee Ballot Portal
Download the Absentee Ballot Application. Complete all applicable fields, print, and sign. You MUST provide a pen and ink signature in Section Eight (8).
You may apply for a ballot for a relative who is disabled or out of town, but that ballot will be mailed directly to the voter. The person providing assistance should provide a signature in Section Ten (10) and Section Eleven (11).

If you are unable to print an application, please feel free to contact our office at 706-769-3958 and we will mail one out to you.
Submitting an Absentee Ballot
After the Elections Office has received, reviewed, and verified your Absentee Ballot Application, an Absentee Ballot will be mailed to your address between 22-29 days prior to the primary or election, or as soon as ballots are available prior to a runoff.
Once you have received the ballot and voted your ballot, submit the ballot via:

by hand delivery or via our drop box located at 7635 Macon Highway, Watkinsville GA 30677 (the Drop Box is only available
during the hours of advance voting).
The Oconee County Board of Elections & Voter Registration office must receive your ballot by 7 PM ET on Election Day.
Once the ballot has been received by the Elections and Registration Office, it can no longer be cancelled.
Military and Overseas Citizen Voters
Use this site Georgia - (fvap.gov) to vote absentee if you are:
- a U.S citizen
- at least 18 years old
- absent from your voting residence
The absentee voting process applies to you if you are:
- an active duty member of the Uniformed Services or Merchant Marine;
- an eligible spouse or family member of an active duty member of the Uniformed Services or Merchant Marine; or
- a U.S. citizen residing outside the U.S.

Cancelling Your Ballot
If you desire to cancel your Absentee Ballot, please print and complete the Affidavit of Cancelled Absentee Ballot. Please note, once a ballot has been received by the Oconee County Board of Elections and Registration Office, it can no longer be cancelled.
Complete the form, filling out the appropriate fields and confirm that a physical signature is provided. An electronic/typed signature will not be accepted.
